Rebuild Christchurch RSA
After 95 years of continuous service and support to our Defence Forces and Police veterans through two World Wars, the Korean War, the Malaya/Borneo emergency, the Vietnam War and numerous international peacekeeping deployments throughout the globe under the auspices of the United Nations, The Christchurch Memorial Returned and Services Association was dealt a sickening blow on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 12:51pm when the its clubrooms at 74 Armagh Street in central Christchurch was severely damaged by the Canterbury earthquakes of that tragic day. The clubrooms were so seriously damaged that they never re-opened and have finally been demolished.
The sad loss of our building has not stopped us though, far from it. We have continued to provide our ongoing welfare and support activities in support of our members and veterans from temporary leased premises in Sandyford Street Sydenham while we plan and fundraise to redevelop our Armagh Street site with a modern new building that will provide for our membership and central city community well into the future.
