Welcome to the Home of Christchurch Memorial Returned and Services Association

The Christchurch Memorial Returned and Services Association was originally formed in Christchurch as ‘The Returned Soldiers Club’ on 14 December 1915 by the first wounded Veterans returning home from Gallipoli and the other battlefields of Word War 1. It is the first and oldest RSA in New Zealand and as such it is the parent of the RNZRSA movement in New Zealand.

The RSA is located its original site at 74 Armagh St in the Central City and includes Trenches Restaurant and Bar which is fully licensed and open to the public. You don't need to be a member to visit Trenches but membership of the RSA provides caluable discounts to patrons.

Anyone can join the Christchurch Memorial RSA. The annual subscription is only $40.00 and there is a discount for couples membership ($60.00 per couple).

RSA Administration and Support Office Hours:

Monday to Friday 09:00am to 4:00pm

Our Administration and Support staff are:

Lisa Hopping:  Office Manager/Assn & Trusts Secretary

Kerrilynn Boakes:  Office Administrator

Tau Sheehan:   Support and Welfare Advisor

We are really excited about having returned to our own home where we are again providing the full range of services including bar and restaurant facilities for our members and our central city community. The new building is wonderful and we are certain that it is a fitting home for New Zealand's parent RSA and a valuable asset for our rebuilt and vibrant new city.

How would you like to contribute to the rebuilding of our new RSA to replace the one destroyed during the 22 February 2011 earthquake?

Go to the side bar menu on the left of this page and click on 'Fundraising and Sponsorship' immediately below 'Home'. This will give you links to our pages for the Remembrance Wall 500 Club fundraising scheme.

You can learn more about the RSA, what we do, our history and how to join by clicking on the pages of this site using the left side menu bar.

Have a look - Go on you know you want to.
